President's Kill List
Why are people so up in arms over the "kill list" in the Oval Office? It seems to be a huge concern only now under this presidency. The concern is nothing more than political spin. It rhetoric to make the President appear to be a different kind of monster than those before him. Every president since our intelligence era has been privy to national secrets and has chosen who will live, who will die, and even who will be pardoned for crimes committed. Barak Obama was initially accused of being soft on terrorism and now supposedly is using "kill" list to further his presidency. The list is developed by the Director of the CIA. the President does not brief himself or do his own research.
From a moral standpoint, it is difficult to imagine having to make such decisions. It is unimaginable to think that these decisions are being made. But this has been a large part of the position of President of the United States of America. I shared with a number of voters, both first time and Barak Obama supporters that on day one he will received his security briefing. From that day, his life and presidency will be changed forever. People will be disappointed because his office will require him to support policies and positions that seem contrary to what candidate Obama said. I was not surprised b his statement to support gay marriage. People said, "I never thought he would do that." Others have said, "I thought he was a Christian?" People fail to realize that this is politics and now we are again seeing candidate Obama. It is all part of the landscape. For those in politics or entering therein, you have to weigh in the balance that there will be policies that will test your moral judgement.
I recall several friends that are Republicans to the core ask how could I as a Christian ever vote Democratic because of their major support of abortion? I explain to them that I vote policy and person and not party. Every party has the same battle. But to really understand politics, you understand that the President does not enact state law. Voters have the power to change the laws of state government with the election of our judiciary representatives. If you want to make an impact, make sure you are in tune with the branch of government that can directly affect day to day moral life issues. President Obama has been accused of not doing enough for African Americans. Barak Obama is not our friend working the cash register at McDonald's. He is not in office to give any race the "hook up". He cannot simply walk in a room and tell the nation to do something at the drop of a hat. Without the support of congress, it is impossible.
The office of the presidency is the toughest job on earth. He has to balance his personal agendas, moral values, what is best for the nation, and what is best for the world. President Barak Obama has done the same as any other president in the past. He has voted with his party and on behalf of his constituent base. He is concerned with re-election. He makes decisions based on poll surveys, even when he says he doesn't. All of this is part of what it means to be president. There are things about the office that you and I don't want to know. The "kill list" is just one of those things.
